JOB SUMMARY: The Technical Product Manager (TPM) is responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating and improving all aspects of technical support of assigned products. This responsibility extends from the development of a new product(s), the sustaining activities of product(s) while in production, through obsolescence of the product(s).
NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES:
The TPM will integrate with all the disciplines and specialty groups on a product design team to ensure the Serviceability of product design, by the end user customer as well as the Hill-Rom Service customer. The TPM will provided information to the appropriate teams on the service environment, such as the acceptable time to assemble products, acceptable weight of packaged products (ergonomic concerns), acceptable repair times, tool requirements, service transportation of products, and standard practices at facilities. The TPM will be responsible for developing detailed service launch plans for both capital and rental products.
SUSTAINING PRODUCT ACTIVITIES:
The TPM is the subject matter expert for their assigned product(s). The TPM will provide escalation support to internal and external customers when required. The TPM will work with teams, and or individually to resolve field issues. The TPM is responsible for developing Field Action Plans, which includes launch, tracking, and monitoring of field actions until closed. The TPM is a member of, but not limited to, product teams (PIC, CRT, etc.) representing the service organization.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
The TPM is responsible for managing assigned projects, to include cost reductions, process improvements, service budgets, product location alignment, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core Member of Product Team providing Top Ten Warranty Parts Utilization.Core Team Member PDP/NPD process providing service plans, serviceability review, design review and phase documentation sign-off.Involvement in Field Action process to include health hazard/risk assessment, plan development, development and approval of applicable documents, i.e. technical bulletins, customer letters, instruction sheets, modification notices, service manual revisions; coordination of parts logistics with stores and commodity specialists; providing monthly updates on the status of the field action.Developing work instructions for field installation and maintenance of products.Providing technical expertise related to products.Participate in Risk Assessments and FMEA’s.Escalation responsibility to Tech Support, Field Technicians, and customers providing troubleshooting, parts identification, and liaison with other departments to resolve service issues.Assist with field audit/investigations.Review, evaluate and modify product(s) service requirements.Coordinate, communicate and manage new product launches.Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
4 year degree in multidisciplinary engineering or systems engineering orCombination of education and experience, or BS in Business or Management with 4+ years in a technical position.Must be proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point.MS Project, and Access is a plus.Experience in New Product development is preferred.Experience in field service is a plus.
