Entry Level Technical Writer:
Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducts quality review of materials.
Key Job Characteristics:
The technical writer is primarily responsible for the creation, revision and label review of operations manuals, protocol manuals, training material, and service/maintenance manuals in the English language. The Technical Writer will work closely with the product marketing staff, field service engineers, operations/clinical staff, regulatory staff, as well as other staff members to ensure project deadlines are met.
Responsible for all phases of documentation, including documentation planning, scheduling, information gathering, writing, and editing. The documentation can include text, equations, graphs, tables, and other graphics.Create corporate master version of manuals in the English language.Adapt the Corporate manual to meet specific requirements for label review by regional markets (International English/U.S. versions)Create and/or review other documentation including, but not limited to, disposable set labeling, directions for use, software message syntax, etc.
Education and Experience Required:Bachelors Degree required (English and/or Engineering preferred)Degree or Certificate in Technical Writing preferredMinimum 1 year industry experience producing technical documentation medical device industry knowledge helpful Ability to understand technical/clinical procedures and clearly communicate ideasExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently and in a team environment with strong organizational skills and follow-throughAbility to manage more than 1 project at a timeKnowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe FrameMaker, and Adobe Illustrator preferredKnowledge of CAD programs such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks a plus
