Training Specialist - Clinical Lab or Biomed Engineer
IRIS International, Inc., a profitable and dynamic, publicly traded, In-vitro Diagnostics Company has a growth opportunity for a Training Specialist in our Chatsworth, CA corporate offices.
IRIS International is a leader in automated urinalysis technology with its workstations installed in major medical institutions throughout the world. IRIS International manufactures the only clinical analyzers, which use real-time video flow imaging, displaying microscopic images on a video screen. The systems are operated by touch screen interfaces pioneered by the Company for use in urinalysis and microscopic urinalysis of body fluids. The Company’s imaging systems use patented and proprietary Automate Intelligent Microscopy (AIM) technology for automating microscopic procedures, enabling clinical laboratory technologists to rapidly and efficiently analyze and process specimens automatically, significantly reducing the costly and time-consuming manual steps required for microscopic analysis.

Basic Job Function
Conduct structured, formal training for Field Service Engineers, Telephone Support Specialists, and Customers. Serve as a technical writer to provide support for document control activities, procedures, manuals, service and technical bulletins to customers and employees to ensure consistent messaging and regulatory compliance
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Responsible for high quality day to day technical training of Field Service Engineers, Telephone Support Specialists, and Customers via classroom setting to ensure participants can perform all phases of routine and corrective service on Iris equipment and that customers are comfortable in training others on Iris products
· Responsible for activities related to efficient delivery of programs [ordering supplies, maintaining the work-space, working effectively with other training classes and the administrative support person]
· Working closely with other departments, responsible for writing technical documents and researching content to incorporate into documentation.; Ensure that documentation is well written, presented, and communicates efficiently to the end-user; When creating, updating and enhancing the documentation, adheres to format, content and style guidelines, giving consideration to usability and ensuring accuracy, consistency and quality
Provide input/support other departments as needed for the development and support of new and existing products
Perform ongoing assessment of training program and participant needs, then incorporate feedback and ideas back into the improvement of training programs
Assist manager in design, development, implementation and continuous improvement of functional FSE and TSS training program
Assist in ongoing improvement of the Customer training programPerform needs assessment to assist in design and development of additional training program as need is proactively identified
Provide Field Service or Customer product training and demonstrations for additional parties and Iris employees from other disciplines (Production, Sales, HR, International FSE’s or FAS’, etc.)
Recognize and take action to resolve problems proactively; Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by utilizing proper customer relation skill; Act as a team member as well as independently
Remain current on all products, services and features/functionality
Assist in development of new training tools for effective training content delivery
Education:
AA in Electronics/Medical technology/life sciences degree plus 3 years Biomedical Field Service or extensive troubleshooting experience. BS in Biomedical Engineering HIGHLY desired.
Experience:
2-5 years experience in medical diagnostics industry or clinical laboratory environment; Demonstrated ability to deliver professional level training and presentations; Prior training/formal presentation experience; Must have experience in equipment repair and troubleshooting, training adults and writing procedures and/or technical documents
Specific Skills and Knowledge:
Troubleshooting skills, basic computer skills, strong customer service skills and training / presentation skills; excellent verbal and written communications skills; excellent organizational and problem-solving skills; knowledge of adult learning techniques
Physical Requirements of the Position:
Ability to communicate verbally, ability to stand for up to 8 hours at one time
