COMPANY OVERVIEWThis twenty-nine person, early-stage medical device company has recently entered feasibility studies for their proprietary cardiac implant technology which addresses one of the key causes of congestive heart failure.  The company is well funded, has recruited a world-class engineering team, and is led by an executive team well seasoned in bringing new medical device technology to market.DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW

 

The Vice President of Research and Development will have complete responsibility for the Company’s R&D activities.  As a key member of the executive team, this individual will contribute at a Sr. level in the areas of team leadership, project management, and strategic planning. 

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·         Team Leadership:  Management of a highly talented, seven-member R&D team.

 

·         Project Management:  Finalize product development prior to the Company’s upcoming pivotal clinical trial, and manage development of follow-on technologies for new and next generation products.

 

·         Strategic Planning:  Budgeting, forecasting, resource management, technology timelines and development.

 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

·         Bachelors or Masters degree in engineering

 

·         Ten + years medical device experience

 

·         Experience with implantable technology

 

·         Currently at Director or VP level

 

·         Prior experience supporting the FDA pivotal trial process

 

·         Ability to present scientific date to the FDA as required

·         Understanding of, and passion for, the unique cultural requirements of an early-stage company

 

·         Familiarity with SolidWorks

 

 

PREFERENCES

 

·         Cardiac implant experience

 

·         Prior experience working with Nitinol
