Firth Rixson Rings is a division of Firth Rixson, a multinational corporation with sales exceeding $1 Billion annually.  The Rings division specializes in the complex process of forging seamless rolled rings for major aerospace customers.

 

Firth Rixson operates 4 seamless ring facilities in the US and 2 in the UK.  The company offers the most comprehensive size and alloy range of rolled rings in the world. Products sizes range from four inches to 173 inches in diameter. Materials include alloy steel, stainless, aluminum, titanium, nickel-based superalloys and copper alloys.

 

This opportunity is open due to growth.  In the past four years, the company has experienced approximately 400% growth in sales.  The Technical Sales Estimator will have corporate wide estimation responsibility in the rings arena.  Sites include:  FR Forged Metals, Fontana, CA; FR Monroe Forgings, Rochester, NY; FR Schlosser, Rancho Cucamonga, CA; and FR Viking, Verdi, NV.

 

Responsibilities:

 

The successful candidate will join an existing team of estimators and sales professionals based in Rancho Cucamonga.  A training program lasting from one to three months will assure that the capabilities of each division are fully understood before primary responsibilities are undertaken.  The following key tasks shall include but not be limited to:

 From both full prints and detailed conceptualizations, determine the cost to produce fully finished parts.Interface with internal design engineers to estimate the forging design and processes, tooling and potential capitalization costs. Interface with the division sales teams as well as external customer contacts to determine and react to customer requirements.Interface with purchasing departments to negotiate raw material pricing.Support the standardization when possible of estimating functions.Factor in capacity limitations when applicable.

 

Qualifications:

 

The successful candidate will be ready to embark on a challenging new assignment. 

Internally, opportunities for promotion to higher levels of responsibility are possible with achieved success in the Technical Sales Estimator role.  Candidates should have the following qualifications:

 Must be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident.Minimum three years performing an estimating function for a forging company preferred foundry or casting experience considered.  Ability to open and retrieve information from customer supplied CAD source essential.Proficient in MS Office software.Assertive, outgoing personality a necessity for success in the role.Attainment of a technical degree a plus.Prior experience in a customer interaction role considered nice to have.Experience in the manufacturing arena considered a positive.
