Group Financial Controller

Due to the re-location of a small head-office from Chicago to New York we are looking for a competent, experienced and ambitious Financial Controller to be based in Manhattan (just below Central Park).

 

The office is the U.S. head office of a large English recycling company that over the last 2 years has invested very heavily in a number of acquisitions in the USA (some $0.5bn).  The company is privately owned and is keen to invest further in the right opportunities and ensure its existing investments are performing at an optimal level.

 

The Group CFO is re-locating to Manhattan to assume the position of U.S. CFO and is looking for someone to act as a "right-hand man" on the financial affairs of the U.S. operations.

 

The role requires somebody who:

- is strong technically i.e. has a good knowledge of US GAAP and taxation.

- who will be responsible for preparing USA consolidated accounts, forecast figures and bank submissions.

- will liaise closely with the CFO's of existing subsidiaries whilst also having a big involvement in the acquisition and post-acquisition integration of new subsidiaries.

- will have a key role in managing relationships with auditors, tax advisors, banks etc.

 

The office will be small, 5-8 employees, but with a big responsibility (2008 sales will exceed $1bn). Qualities looked for in candidates are: trustworthiness (they may often be the senior person on site in the office), commercial nous, restlessness and a desire to make a difference. The Controller would need to be comfortable with change as there is still a great desire to grow the US business. We don't look for egos and everyone rolls their sleeves up - the office will be relaxed but professional. No one should mistake an informal, relaxed style with a relaxed, indifferent approach to business - we are seeking to create a world class operation come what may!

 

Experience of multi-site operations would be helpful as would someone who has a systems bent (but is not a techie).
