Manager, Mining and Geology

Job Title: Manager, Mining and Geology, Southeastern U.S.

 

A global industrial minerals company is looking for a Senior Mine Planning Engineer/ Geologist to manage their exploration and mining planning/geology team and effort.

 

The geologist or engineer will work throughout North America on new and existing mines and projects for this company, ranging from basic field work and exploration to advanced project analysis and feasibility.   

 

The ideal candidates has at least some 10-years of experience under their belt of field work, ability to coordinate cross-functional teams, ability to coordinate and manage all aspects of mine planning, able to perform and use and manage 3D geological modeling software, and manage multiple multi-million dollar projects. The candidate also has understanding of the life of an industrial minerals project, and of how/where/why the minerals might be used, and what a customer might care about.

 

This is not a contract position; it is a regular, full-time position with national responsibility.  

 

Responsibilities:Design/supervise property evaluation/geologic 2-D and 3-D mapping and geologic mapping and core projects at greenfield sites and existing minesMap an area geochemically (i.e. using purity/impurities) when all else looks the sameFull project management, including budgeting, subcontractor selection and oversight, etc.Completion of due-diligence/purchase investigations (from a geologic perspective)Writing reports that a corporate executive management and capital investment group can useExtensive cooperation with other corporate personnel in mining engineering, operations, executive management, etcFrequent travel to sites throughout the US required

 

 

Benefits:

Salary is highly dependent upon experience: at least mid-eighties plus a very significant bonus. Full relocation benefits available, plus excellent benefits befitting.

 

Selection Criteria

 MUST be legal to work in the U.S. (resident or green-card holder); can be Canadian or AustralianMining Engineering and/or Geology degree, advanced degree preferredBroad understanding of trace geochemistry in sedimentsUnderstanding of both open-cut and underground mining helpfulAble to pick-up new areas: sedimentology, underground mapping, etc. 10+ years of experience in industrial minerals geological project work and management including significant budget creation and accountabilityExcellent and demonstrable report-writing capabilityComputer modeling experience required
