Operations Mgr.

This position is located at one of our Core Commercial Unit locations in Paramount, CA. This position will: - Plan, organize, and manage through direct reports, all operations activities relating to receiving, storing, order, filing, processing, loading, and shipping, through the most efficient and cost effective processes. - Review and approve the scheduling of all plant and transportation activities to ensure that service level requirements are met for both direct customers and other company facilities. - Direct the quality processes and ISO compliance and ensure that product quality standards are maintained through proper training and utilization of established inspection techniques. Initiate corrective action and process improvement where appropriate. - Ensure that all Company human resources policies and practices are being administered in conformance with established contracts and/or guidelines. Maintain positive relations with union and represent the company in the grievance procedure. - Evaluate material and workflow, equipment, plant layout and machinery performance on an ongoing basis and initiate corrective action and process improvement where appropriate. - Ensure the development and maintenance of an economical and efficient delivery of materials for the Company and to its customers. This would include equipment, services, and personnel as well as logistics as it relates to customers and inter company transfers. - Recommend staffing levels, and upon approval, hire employees required to meet operating objectives and service level requirements. Provide for the training and development of all plant personnel. - Manage the maintenance of buildings, equipment, and grounds, and provide for repairs while also taking preventive actions necessary to protect the company’s’ asset(s). - Prepare and administer annual budgets and monthly updates. - Ensure compliance with the corporate safety program and provide for housekeeping, which is consistent with established standards. - Review performance of subordinates regularly and conduct formal evaluations when scheduled. Recommend appropriate changes in status. - Recommend departmental expenditures including capital requirements annually and monitor budget performance. - Managing production lead times competitive with the market and in support of sales. - Development of staff (i.e. supervisory direct reports) Key requirements include: - BS degree in industrial management, engineering degree or business related with a minimum of ten years relevant experience. - Organizational/leadership development, union management, negotiation skills, quality systems, process improvement techniques. - Management skills: communication skills, problem solving, delegation, project planning, and innovation. - Knowledge of product and processing is a plus. - Minimum five (5) to ten (10) years of industrial/manufacturing management experience with gradual increase of responsibilities during those years.
