Senior Business Objects Developer

 

PURPOSES

Designs and manages the decision support environment which may include multiple tools or methods.  Works with end users to ensure a tight fit between the Decision Support environment and their requirements. Delivers Decision Support solutions as part of a project team.  Delivers expertise in one or more Decision Support tools; manages the administration of these tools, develops/maintains the semantic layer and metadata, and creates/maintains reports.  Creates documentation and provides second-line support to power users who develop reports on behalf of their departmental colleagues.  Provide production support for the Decision Support solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Lead the decision support development process on initiatives to include the following: Coach customers through requirements gathering, recommend best practices, capture/analyze business needs and customers’ strategic information requirements, and define optimum systems requirements to meet these needs.  Develop designs (functional and technical) for the decision support solutions. Define and create system objects required by the design.Design, manage, and execute testing with both IT project teams and user representatives.Develops/supports Decision Support tool training and documentation.

 

Manages the administration of the various Decision Support tools.

 

Support production systems as required by optimizing performance, resolving production problems, and providing timely follow-up on problem reports. Performance tune common online warehouse queries.

 

Focus on data quality and ensure data integrity exist for all Decision Support Deliverables.

 

Educate and coach the user community about the value of Decision Support.

 

Creates documentation and provides second-line support to power users who develop reports on behalf of their departmental colleagues.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

BS or BA in IT, or related field, or 5+ years experience in related field.

Business Objects XI Universe, Webi, and Crystal development experience.

Strong Data Warehouse experience.

Strong relational and dimensional database skills.

Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Strong design and technical skills.

Strong communication skills.

Team leadership experience.

Experience with Data Warehouse and Software Development Methodologies.

A good understanding of the project management/lifecycle.

WORKING EXPERIENCE

Required to be on call.  Willingness to put in extra hours as projects and priorities dictate.

May be required to travel to domestic and international sites in the performance of duties.  Flexible hours to accommodate global meeting times.
