Tax Manager

GENERAL PURPOSE

Supports corporate tax strategy and compliance by coordinating data flow from sites, maintaining permanent tax files, identifying tax efficient opportunities, communicating effectively with third party advisors, as well as international tax department; preparing tax audit work papers and internal tax consolidation documentation.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIESTransfer Pricing: Serve as the contact person for Transfer Pricing questions in the US.  Prepare and adapt BU Master files to the US Transfer Pricing documentation constraints.  Review Transfer Pricing agreements.Tax accounting: Organize supporting and consistent accounts and records for all divisions and subsidiaries, allowing for proper tax calculation and accounting.Tax reporting: Organize and manage current and deferred tax computation and reconciliation while maintaining compliance with the US and Group (IFRS) rules. Tax compliance (Federal & State Income Taxes): Supply all necessary information to external tax advisors for the preparation of tax returns.  Coordinate the filing process, as well as all other corporate tax obligations in the U.S. Tax audit and litigation: Manage tax audits in the U.S. and any open tax litigations.Provide tax assistance to M&A projects.Internal tax adviser: Provide tax advice to senior management and business units.U.S. tax knowledge: Keep up-to-date on tax regulation in the U.S.  Understand the impact of any changes on the organization and communicate those changes to local and international management. 

 

STRATEGIC FOCUS

 

Perform a gap / fit analysis of information collection and dissemination process.  Prepare a road map to a more effective, efficient process.  In conjunction with International Tax Department and Domestic tax preparer, formulate a U.S. tax strategy for the 2-8 year time frame. 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Successful candidate should possess or meet the following requirements:Bachelor/Masters in Accounting, Finance or Economics Degree with a concentration in Taxation3-5 years of tax related experience in a national tax practice firmBe analytic, efficient, and systematic in solving problemsRequired to travel internationally on an as needed basisKnowledgeable in sales and use tax matters in applicable jurisdictionsHave a general understanding of Canadian & European (IFRS) tax principles and practicesProficient in a Microsoft Office environmentWell - organized and detail-orientedEffective negotiator and problem-solverExcellent communicator, both written and verbalAbility to meet deadlines
