Background:

Ohio Grantmakers Forum (OGF) is an association of foundations, corporate contributions programs and other grantmaking organizations.  Its mission is to provide leadership for organized philanthropy in Ohio and to enhance the ability of members to fulfill their charitable goals.  Incorporated in 1984, OGF is a 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, with a regional office (serving northeast Ohio) located in Cleveland.

 

Position Summary:

The Accounting Assistant supports the accounting and administrative functions at OGF and Health Policy Institute of Ohio. This is a part-time, non-exempt position in the Columbus office that reports to the Vice President, Member Services & Operations.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Accounting

•-Processes accounts payables, including but not limited to vendor invoices, employee travel and expense reimbursements, and transfers of 401k and 125b contributions

•-Processes accounts receivables, including but not limited to membership dues and program fees, payments for materials and publications, and grant receipts

•-Provides support for the audit process

•-Updates and maintains financial records in accounting system

•-Prepares and delivers deposits to bank; keeps signature cards up-to-date

•-Maintains accounting files

 

Administration and Membership

•-Assists with membership retention and renewal activities

•-Provides back-up support for general office duties

•-Completes other projects and duties as assigned

 

Qualifications common to all positions:

•-Attention to detail, ability to produce high quality work products

•-Communicate effectively in a variety of settings and styles

•-Work collaboratively in a team environment

•-Experience with or interest in learning about philanthropic field

•-Use time and resources well and display ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities

•-Approach responsibilities creatively and innovatively with the goal of continuous improvement

 

 

Preferred Qualifications for this position:

•-Nonprofit accounting experience preferred

•-Working knowledge of accounting software

•-Quickbooks experience a plus

•-Strong technology skills, including Microsoft Office

•-Experience in a Not for profit, a service industry or other association work preferred
