LOCATION: Operation HOPE Inc., World Headquarters

  707 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 3030 Los Angeles







Position Overview:

Supports the Controller in the fiscal and operational needs of the organization. Performs duties personally and through the management of subordinate accounting staff.  Provide leadership and manage all areas of grants administration. Provide support in all areas needed in the Accounting Department.

 

Assistant Controller

Ø Manages the development of financial procedures as necessary and assures adequate financial controls are followed

Ø Directs the work flow of subordinates, appraising the performance of subordinate staff.

Ø Assists Controller in managing the annual audit by an outside accounting firm

Ø Reviews all revenue coding, and accounts payable coding

Ø Individual accounting projects

 

Grants Administrator

Ø Overall accounting for private and government grants

Ø Monthly invoicing and financial reports to agencies

Ø Monitor grant status and report to program managers and upper management

Ø Provide monthly report to program managers

Ø Review daily data entry for internal control

Ø Review payroll allocations every payroll

All other work tasks and duties as assigned by Controller

 

Experience and Core Competencies:

Ø Bachelors Degree in Accounting

Ø Minimum of 5 years accounting experience

Ø Must have federal grant experience, able to handle multiple projects at once, ability to meet deadlines, detail oriented and able to conduct a single action audit in conjunction with the controller.

Ø MAS90 accounting software or comparable accounting software system

Ø Microsoft Excel and Word, Microsoft Outlook

Ø Typing and calculator skills, accuracy and attention to detail, ability to demonstrate good judgment, initiative, and critical thinking, excellent written and verbal communication skills, self motivated, self directed and demonstrated decision maker.

Ø Demonstrate ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Ø Demonstrate ability to interpret and deal with several concrete variables and abstract variables

Ø Knowledge of Non-profit Accounting

 







COMPENSATION: Salary based on experience.  Operation Hope pays 66% of employee and families medical and dental benefits, and  benefits start next calendar month after hired.  We also offer a 401K matching program, vested after 2 years, plus paid standard holidays.
