JOB TITLE: AGRONOMIST

JOB LOCATION:  Kersa Elala, Ethiopia

MISSION: Morrell Family Charities is seeking a motivated and passionate Agronomist for their Non-Profit international charity operations. Morrell Charities operates numerous orphanages in South America and has current projects in Ethiopia to help improve and sustain the agriculture and quality of life for the people there. Morrell Family Charities is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah.

INITIATIVES:

1 – Dry Farming and Other Agriculture Developments

2 – Livestock Forage and Health Improvements

3 – Introducing and Sustaining Growth of Vegetables, Fruit and Vineyards

4 – Manage, Maintain and Maximize the Modern Irrigation System

 

KEY ACTIVITIES:

·  Contribute to the design, implementation and evaluation of suitable agricultural and food development and sustainment.

·  Assist in monitoring the overall project environment as it relates to changing realities likely to impact program direction.

·  Help train, manage and teach local staff to support the initiatives.

·  Study the communities farming systems and contribute to their sustainment and improvement.

·  Relate the traditional knowledge and customs to existing local agriculture programs.

·  Assist in logistical support functions when local circumstances require it.

·  Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

·  B.S. degree in agriculture, rural business development, or a suitable field.

·  Excellent English communication skills

·  Ability to work in, and contribute in a team context.

·  Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources.

·  Previous leadership experience and strong interpersonal skills; good negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
