GENERAL SUMMARY: Position is on the staff of a not-for-profit government consulting organization headquartered in McLean, Virginia. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for analyzing and modeling government sector supply chains and related financial systems; developing alternative operating policies. Initial duties include: Analyze current government sector material management policies; identify opportunities for improvement Develop alternative material management policies to improve efficiency and effectiveness Model government sector supply chains using simulations and analytical models; includes algorithm development and software implementation Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team Develop and deliver presentations for clients MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate degree in Mathematics or bachelor's degree with graduate level math or physics courses and demonstrable mathematical maturity acceptable and 1-2 years relevant work experience required. Graduate level mathematics background, especially in probability, stochastic processes, optimization, convex analysis, functional analysis. Familiarity with analytical and simulation modeling--physics, engineering, or computer science course work may qualify. Ability to communicate technical results to non-technical audience desired. Ability to function as a team member required. Creativity in solving challenging technical problems desired. Interest in improving government policies and serving the public interest desired. Familiarity with C/C++ helpful, other object-oriented language such as Java may suffice; facility with Excel, database applications such as Foxpro and SQL server highly useful; familiarity with statistical analysis software such as SAS desired. Availability for occasional travel required. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
