Using a fleet of 16 trucks and volunteers on foot, City Harvest collects excess food from all segments of the food industry and delivers it free of charge to community programs in all five boroughs. At the same time, City Harvest is working to increase the access that low-income New Yorkers have to nutritious food by partnering with other non-profits, businesses, farmers, and target communities to establish improvements to local food systems that will benefit residents long into the future. City Harvest’s programs provide individuals and families with nutrition information that they can use and supports community programs so that they can do their vital work serving meals to people in need. City Harvest’s programs currently help feed an estimated 260,000 New Yorkers each week.

Assistant Manager, Agency Relations
We are seeking an Assistant Manager, Agency Relations, with proven resource and time management experience. This individual will handle all delivery issues/route issues that fall within his/her assigned geographic region. She or he will implement new organizational policies or regulations that impact agencies. The Assistant Manager, Agency Relations, reports directly to the Director of Agency Relations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Act as key contact for a portfolio of agency accounts and facilitate ongoing communications to ensure solid agency relations. Analyze business needs of agency, recommend long and short tern solutions, and introduce new services or partners.
• Implement procedures and internal standards for ongoing management of agency accounts. Track contract renewals. Address agency concerns, answer questions, and seek resolution to issues as liaison between the client and internal resources. Connect internal staff specialists as necessary to address non-compliance issues and map out remediation. Steward all inquires for new agencies that fall within the assigned geographical region. Provide regular written reports on all agency activity. Ensure agency profile records are up to date.
• Provide onsite technical support and advice to agencies with respect to safe food storage and handling of donated foods, in compliance with applicable New York State and local NYC agency regulations and requirements. As necessary, advise City Harvest staff with regard to issues that may develop or concerns that they may have with respect to quality of donated food. Facilitate and ensure timely communication with agencies regarding food alerts, special initiatives and advocacy related initiatives.
• Perform annual assessment of agency performance, identify any challenges to be resolved and opportunities for capacity enhancement. Build agency relationships and demonstrate knowledge of the hunger community and food pantries/soup kitchens.
• Actively participate in all City Harvest initiatives that have implications for agencies and require account manager input and facilitation.
• Demonstrate professionalism through a positive and cooperative attitude as well as an advanced understanding of planning, time management, resource management, and communication management.
Requirements:
• Strong customer service skills, excellent writing ability, and strong and communication/presentation skills.
• Bilingual and/or some Spanish helpful.
• Knowledge of the NYC public transportation system and the of the 5 boroughs of NYC.
• Sales experience is a plus.
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel).
• Excellent organizational and administrative skills with an acute eye for detail.
• Ability to be self directed and to work both independently and as an effective team member.
• Ability to manage many projects simultaneously.
