Associate Director-Be An Angel to a Student Program
The Futures in Education Foundation is a non-profit organization, operating under the umbrella of the Diocese of Brooklyn whose mission is to ensure the continuance of the Catholic schools of Brooklyn and Queens by providing scholarships and program support to the neediest of students and schools. The average income of the families we serve is $26,000 for a family of four. Over 60% of students are minority and over 20% are non-Catholic. The challenge we face is that working poor parents cannot keep up with rising tuition which averages $3,200 a year.
We currently have an opening for an Associate Director of our Be An Angel To A Student Program. The Associate Director is responsible for the development and/or implementation of strategies for solicitation of existing and potential sources of funding.
In collaboration with key Diocesan officials, develops and/or implements successful strategies for the solicitation of existing and potential donors for the Be an Angel to a Student Program. Responsible for donor stewardship as well as maintaining and potentially upgrading existing donor relationships. Interacts with Diocesan agencies and departments to secure resources and assistance to ensure the success of the Be an Angel to a Student Program. Prepares presentations and appropriate materials and maintains Diocesan website information regarding the Be an Angel to a Student Program. Prepares regular reports for the Executive Director of the Futures in Education Program and to the Director of Stewardship and Development, as well as special reports at the request of the Bishop, Vicar General, and/or Econome. Performs all other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.
Requirements Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications or related field and equivalent experience, in private sector, social service or government development efforts Minimum five years of development experience with a proven track record In-depth Knowledge of the Roman Catholic Church, its tenets, structure, beliefs and attitudes Some travel is required as well as the ability to work beyond regular business hours, including weekends, as necessary Ability and experience working with a multi-cultural, multi-racial, diversified environment and a demonstrated sensitivity to this diversity Excellent written, verbal and platform communication skills Computer proficient and working knowledge of programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Programs,Raisers Edge and/or comparable software programs, as well as familiarity and experience with Internet research. Fluency in language in addition to English is preferable.
