For over a century, the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) has been a leader in research in the natural sciences and anthropology, as well as in museum education and exhibition. The AMNH mission, which reflects a close integration of science and education, is ''to discover, interpret, and disseminate through scientific research and education knowledge about human cultures, the natural world, and the universe.''
Under the direction of the Benefits Manager, the Benefits Administrator will counsel employees/retirees with medical and dental questions and issues including troubleshooting problems with enrollments, claims, etc. Benefit offerings include health, dental, life insurance, disability, 401k, and FSA, FMLA and COBRA.
Responsibilities:
Administers employee health, welfare and 401(k) plans company-wide. Benefit programs include: health, dental, life insurance, disability, 401k, and FSA, FMLA and COBRA. Acts as liaison between employee, insurance providers to resolve benefit related problems and ensure effective utilization of plans and positive employee relations. Provides administrative support to benefits function as needed (e.g. correspondence generation, record keeping, HRIS entry). Ensures plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and plan provisions are followed. Performs other benefits duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of one year experience administering employee benefit plans.
Strong computer skills (Word and Excel). Experience in working with HRIS system and payroll database. Superior verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail a must. Strong knowledge and understanding of insurance regulations, plan designs and third party record keeping/administration required. Familiarity with all applicable state and federal regulations required.
Preferred Qualifications:
B.A./B.S. degree in Human resources, or related field.
