Billing Clerk
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The MIS/Billing Clerk provides accurate and timely data entry for medical billing
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of the MIS/BILLING CLERK:
· Use prescribed procedures to review claims record.
· Prepare and posts charges for clients and other payers as directed.
· Prepare required receivable financial reports as required.
· Respond to requests for business office information.
· Assist in preparation of billing from medical records generated claims information.
· Communicate regularly as necessary, both verbally and in writing, with team members including ancillary site officials for transferring information regarding client treatment and care to ensure accuracy and efficiency of the agency’s billing.
· Communicate regularly as necessary, both verbally and in writing, with Caseworkers, Therapists, Psychologists and Fiscal Officer.
· Prepare analytical reports.
· Use computer MediCal software to perform assigned work.Adhere to agency and funding source policies and procedures and advances the goals of UAII in a manner that embodies the agency’s philosophy.
· Maintain strict confidentiality of client and personnel information.
· Keep Director well-inform regarding activities, pending issues and potential problems.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
· Other duties as assigned or required to fulfill the purpose of the position.Assists other personnel as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS – Required
Demonstrated two years or more experience in MediCal billing work with commercial, medical office, government, or community-based nonprofit human services agency.Clear background check.Knowledge of and/or sensitivity to the needs of the American Indian community/culture.Valid California driver’s license and automobile insurance.A self starter who is able to work independently and as a team member; who consistently demonstrates professionalism, courtesy, efficiency, excellent internal and external customer service, high ethical standards and behavior that contributes to harmonious relationships. Demonstrable ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing.Demonstrated ability or willingness to work with culturally diverse populations, youth, and professionals.Willingness to learn new skills and participate in training sessions relevant to the position.Availability to work evening and weekend hours as required.
QUALIFICATIONS – Preferred
· Qualified American Indians in accordance with the Indian Preference Act (Title 25, U.S. Code, Section 472 and 473).
· Experience working with the American Indian community.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to sit at a computer for up to 6 hours per day.Able to perform the following tasks during the work day: reading, writing, speaking, listening, typing, sitting, standing, walking and driving a car.Current negative/inactive Tuberculosis test/x-ray results on file.Negative results on pre-employment drug test.
