Position: Bookkeeper & Financial Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION
This new position, reporting to the Manager of Accounting, supports the Finance Department directly and the entire Agency broadly; with responsibility for a variety of bookkeeping, accounting, and personnel-related support functions and processes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for weekly entry of all payables and receivables, and ensuring complete
accuracy of all data processed
2. Under Manager’s direction, responsible for generating checks, processing payroll, and
assisting with accounting system maintenance
3. Assume responsibility for a variety of financial performance reports, audit preparation
and other required tracking and reporting tasks
4. Process all filing and record maintenance on a weekly basis within Accounting
Department
5. Assist with all projects, functions and deadlines as time/work-loads permit and as
assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Academic: minimum – High School diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
Professional: minimum of one to two years experience in bookkeeping and accounting required; experience in a non-profit environment and a good working knowledge of QuickBooks Pro and ADP online processing systems a plus. Must be familiar with Microsoft XP, MS Office, and Outlook; and have proven success working with data entry and reporting.
Skills: must be able to manage responsibilities and tasks according to due dates and goals; possess a good working knowledge and familiarity with general accounting rules and procedures; and have at least a basic understanding of the audit process and GAAP guidelines.
Personal Attributes: Must be highly organized and extremely detail oriented, have the ability to multi-task; possess excellent customer service skills; demonstrate a mature attitude and “can-do” nature; be able to communicate effectively and take direction well. Must be a self-starter and team player.
Salary Range: $28,000 - $31,000 (commensurate with experience)
