Description:
Controller/CFO
The Controller under the direction of the Executive Director serves as the chief financial officer of the Kings Bay Y, an agency of United Jewish Appeal (UJA). The position is responsible for overseeing and directing all financial and administrative activities of the Y, including accounting, budgeting, financial planning and reporting, internal audit and facilities and information systems. The CFO works closely with the Executive Director and other members of the staff in assuring that the Y operates in a fiscally responsible fashion, in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements and furthers the overall mission and objectives of the Y.
Staff Supervision:
• Full time bookkeeper
• Director of Maintenance
• Part time staff and outside contractors responsible for information systems
Responsibilities:
• Accounting and financial reporting functions, including GL, financial statements, A/P, A/R, billing and collection, payrolltax returns
• Develop and monitor annual operating and capital budgets
• Monitor and forecast cash flow with the Executive Director
• Administer liability insurance programs and risk management
• Special budgets, billing, and other reports as required by the UJA Federation, governmental agencies, special grant funders and others
• Serve as a key strategic business partner to the Executive Director and other members of the senior management team
• Direct all capital construction projects
• Manage relationships with outside contractors
• Develop and implement strategies for management of information systems, including hardware, software, support and services.
• Develop and maintain employee benefit programs and personnel records
• Other responsibilities that may be assigned by the Executive Director to further the goals, objectives and mission of the agency
Requirements:
• Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance
• 5+ years experience in not-for-profit financial management (Jewish communal service agency is a plus)
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and communicate with staff effectively
· Ability to multi-task
· Knowledge of MIP Sage Software
Salary Range:
$70,000-80,000 depending on experience
