Job Description:
The Arthritis Foundation, New York Chapter has an immediate opening for the Director of the Arthritis Thrift Shop whose major job function is to manage the retail fundraising operations for the Chapter at its new location on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Professionally manages all aspects of the Thrift Shop operation in order to attain budgetary success, with a special emphasis on merchandising and promotions.
Increases net income and awareness for the Arthritis Foundation by developing and successfully marketing a business plan model.
Provides leadership as the central component with staff, volunteers and donors.
Requirements:
High school diploma (college degree preferred) with a minimum of 5 to 7 years successful retail, fundraising, marketing and/or non-profit management experience.
Strong preference to candidates with a thrift shop related background.
Skills:
Ability to price, evaluate, organize and market in-coming donations.
Ability to supervise staff.
Ability to work well with staff, volunteers, donors and the general public.
Superior oral and written communication skills.
Computer proficient in Microsoft Word and donor database maintenance.
