Director of Child Development
Community Services for Children, Inc., a nonprofit organization in Allentown, Pennsylvania, is seeking a proven Leader in the Early Childhood Education field to lead programs for young children-prenatal to five years, and develop new upcoming initiatives for Head Start programs.
Requirements: BA/BS in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Human Development or Public Health, with relevant experience (Masters preferred). Experience with infant/toddlers, child/family development and best practices for a home visitation model; commitment to serving disadvantaged families with young children; five years demonstrated success in broad program management, supervision, staff development, and organizational growth. Bilingual (English/Spanish) desirable. Car and valid driver's license.Community Services for Children, Inc. (CSC) provides a variety of services and programs to children, families, child care professionals, employers and educators. The Donley Children's Campus, located on the grounds of the Allentown State Hospital, is the home of CSC. The agency's staff and the Lehigh County Child Care Subsidy program are located in the Levin Administration Building. The Fowler Building houses four Head Start model classrooms, and the Safe Start Program, a day nursery for severely abused or drug impacted babies. There are parent and community meeting rooms, the Family Library and The Training Institute, which offers educational programs in early childhood to professionals, staff, educators, parents and students from across the Lehigh Valley. CSC is the only provider of Head Start services in the Lehigh Valley. In addition to the four classrooms at The Donley Children's Campus, we operate 40 classrooms throughout the Lehigh Valley, serving over 1,200 low-income children and their families. Head Start provides programs and services to ensure that children enter school eager and motivated to learn. In addition, we now operate six PreK Counts classrooms in Allentown and Easton, serving an additional 120 preschool children. Community Services for Children also operates the Early Head Start program in various locations throughout Lehigh and Northampton counties, serving pregnant families and children to age 5. These programs have home based and center based, part or full year programs for children and families. Parenting Education programs are provided in partnership with both counties. The Child Care Division of CSC manages the Lehigh County Subsidy Program and operates TOT-INFO, a childcare resource and referral service for professionals and families in the Northeast Region of Pennsylvania. CSC is also the Child Care Resource Developer for the Northeast Region's Keystone STARS Program, offering grant programs, training and technical assistance to improve the quality and accessibility of childcare in the 15 counties in northeastern Pennsylvania.
