Director of Development, Major Gifts
The Director of Development, Major Gifts will have responsibility for collaborating with the Associate Executive Director and development staff in meeting fundraising goals for the CDA Foundation. The individual will collaborate in the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual major gifts as well as planned estate gifts from dentists and dental-related constituents.
Individual Gift Cultivation and Solicitation: The Director of Development, Major Gifts will build and maintain relationships with current and potential FOTF (Friends of the CDA Foundation, $1,000 gifts) and cultivate FOTF to increase giving to major gift levels ($5,000+). Responsibilities include building a portfolio of individual donors and prospective donors. Manage and move the portfolio of prospects and donors to ensure that timely steps are taken toward gift solicitation.
Within the portfolio of donors and prospective donors, identify and segment those who have the capacity and interest in planned estate giving. File contact reports on donors and prospects contacted and participate in team prospecting analysis and strategy meetings.
Major Gift Marketing: In collaboration with the marketing department, provide input to marketing materials and strategies, including developing key educational messages, identifying target audiences, and selecting donors to be profiled.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
· Advanced degree or 2 – 3 years equivalent work experience.
· Previous experience in major gift fund development.
· Demonstrated leadership experience in either a professional or a volunteer organization.
· Demonstrated ability to influence community and business leaders through strong presentation skills.
· Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
· Demonstrated strong initiative and leadership skills; collaboration and integrated planning experience.
· Demonstrated ability to interact and build relationships with people at all levels of society.
· Ability to adapt to changing environment and take initiative.
