Established in 1944, Easter Seals Virginia (ESV) is the leader in creating solutions that positively impact the lives of people with disabilities and their families throughout the state. Today, Easter Seals Virginia continues its long tradition of leadership by serving children and adults from every corner of the Commonwealth, aiding them in their quest for independence and to be active citizens in their communities.

 

THE POSITION


Under the supervision of the President/CEO but with considerable autonomy, the Director of Development Services will develop and execute strategies with appropriate Development and Program staff to substantially grow a fundraising program, meet fundraising and revenue goals, build statewide presence for ESV, and create networks of volunteers and other community leaders. He/she will initiate and coordinate strategic statewide fundraising activities by working with staff, the Board of Directors, regional volunteers, and other major gift donors and prospects.


This position will give the successful candidate an opportunity to increase ESV’s visibility across the state and to substantially grow the contribution to revenue.


RESPONSIBILITIES


Develop and execute aggressive statewide fundraising growth strategies.  Work closely with volunteers, partner institutions, Board of Directors, regional volunteers, and key staff to create a presence for ESV that fosters a sense of community and camaraderie among our supporters.


Manage current donors and donor prospects to help meet the annually set fundraising goal from Individuals, Major Donors, Corporations, Clubs and Organizations in the state. Meet with these donors, alone or with development and/or program staff, volunteers, or President/CEO. Coordinate donor visits and develop strategies, as appropriate, for other staff members and volunteers. Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with donors in the state and communicate regularly by mail and phone.  Follow up with cultivation activities as appropriate for gift solicitation, reporting, and stewardship of donors.

Work and travel with development and program staff to plan and conduct visits, presentations, and events. Produce proposals, reports and other cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship materials as needed.

 
Serve as a liaison between the development staff and program services staff, for purposes of coordinating fundraising activities, including special events, throughout the state.
