Director of Publications
Experienced professional sought to take the lead in developing, planning and producing publications for a broad and diverse audience of business leaders, members of the media, diplomats, government officials and members of the general public. The United Nations Association of the USA uses easy-to-understand messaging, branding, imaging in a variety of formats to encourage support for the Associations programs and policy/advocacy initiatives. This position reports to the Executive Director of Communications and Marketing. Responsibilities include:
· Coordinate with department heads and the ED of Communications and Marketing to determine publication needs of each department and the organization as a whole.
· Assign, review, write and edit relevant articles and publications to meet above determined needs, i.e., brochures, fact sheets, advertising copy, media and marketing materials, etc.
· Oversee all aspects (from start to finish) of the quarterly magazine, The Interdependent, and the Association’s annual report.
· Outline, develop and produce content for E-news Updates and oversee the content development and editing of the UNA-USA website.
· Update and maintain in-house style manual and ensure that the UNA-USA style standards are adhered to and the organization’s messaging and branding initiatives are carried out.
· Assist the Executive Director in coordinating quarterly meetings of the Marketing and Communications Committee of the Board and serve as one of the staff liaisons to the committee.
· Manage vendor and freelance contracts.
· Work within and monitor approved budget, determine staffing needs of the Publications Team and supervise staff.
Candidates must be creative, have excellent written, verbal, leadership and interpersonal skills, and possess a proven track record in coordinating development and production of diverse materials. Knowledge of the UN is a plus, and experience working with an advocacy organization and/or knowledge of international and US political affairs is preferred.
BA required, MA preferred, in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or international relations. Five to ten years of relevant professional experience in developing and managing publications is required.
