POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION DESCRIPTION: An employee in this classification may be responsible for any or all of the following functions: Supervise, develop, plan the work of service coordinators involved in providing case management services to consumers and their families. Develop performance objectives in collaboration with staff so that continuous improvements can occur. Set standards of accountability for staff in producing required case documentation. Assist staff toward effective utilization of time and resources. Provide comprehensive training to new staff and ongoing training after the initial training period is over. Serve as the agency representative who projects the vision of the regional center in the District to which he/she is assigned. Serve as liaison and advocate to various community agencies in his/her district. Prepare and provide professional reports which relate to fiscal, case management, and statistical accountability. Assist in the development, implementation, and review of agency goals, objectives, policies and procedures, and Quality Assurance activities. Assure that all consumers and families are informed verbally and in writing of their right to appeal every time a decision is made to change, alter, or deny a service. Organize the service coordinators workload. Is an expert on generic resources and develops this knowledge among the service coordinators. Assure the monitoring of residential facilities in keeping with Title 17. Assure the development of consumer/family support groups. Assures effective liaison responsibilities to the following: Respite agencies, After School Programs, Extended Year Programs, Camps, Supported Living Programs, Independent Living Programs, Department of Social Services, and Developmental Center Programs. The employee in this position must be knowledgeable about Title 17, Title 22, and all DDS regulations applicable to regional centers and Developmental Centers. Ensure the implementation of all plans for consumers relocating into the community due to the closure of Agnews.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a Master's Degree in Social Work plus four years of increasingly responsible post-Masters experience, two of which must have been with developmental disabilities. Preference shall be given to applicants with LCSW Licensure. There are also opportunities for employees to receive Clinical supervision in preparation for MFT and LCSW Licensure for those who qualify.
SPECIAL SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of the agency’s vision and goals. Knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations governing the operation of the agency. Must be aware of how agency relates to community. Knowledge of the principles, objectives, and techniques of social work, individual and group behavior, human growth, development of family relationships; medical-psych-socio-economic factors affecting individuals and families; techniques of intervention, referral and follow-up to community resources. Knowledge of organization and community structure and how to intervene constructively on client's behalf. Knowledge of supervisory principles, training and instructional methods. Must be able to plan, assign, and supervise the work of others to appropriately delegate work assignments. Have the ability to set expectations and standards for employees; have the ability to relate in a constructive and enabling manner to a wide variety of individuals and organizations; work in a positive and supportive manner with supervisees, co-workers, and others in the agency and in the community; prepares and presents oral and written reports.
