SUMMARY OF POSITION:

 

This position is responsible for preparing all financial reports for Staff and the Board of Directors and audit workpapers for the annual audit.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Assuring that the financial reports are produced in an accurate and timely manner.  The accuracy of such reports is of the utmost importance to the Society’s financial operations.  Preliminary figures are prepared on 1st work day following month-end.Developing and designing any new reports that staff needs, with their input, tracking the financial information of any new or existing projects or any other ad-hoc reporting needs.Assisting accounting personnel in the use of the General Ledger (G/L) system and also the use of various PC software packages.Creating new accounts and cost centers according to the needs of the ASTM staff members.Reviewing and posting journal entries in G/L system for all companies.Preparing and consolidating financial statements.Reconciling G/L account balances and reviewing G/L reports for all companies for accuracy.Maintaining and reconciling Fixed Assets System to G/L system for all companies with fixed assets.Preparing annual budget workpapers, sending budget reports to staff and updating the budget based on meetings and discussions with all levels of the organizations.Working with IT and other ASTM staff to identify errors in existing Oracle and Discoverer reports and to create new reports that meet the needs of the end user.Monitoring A/R Oracle reports for accuracy and errors.Attending Oracle User Group meetings and training as needed.

 

Additionally, the incumbent has the responsibility of being the backup for payroll administration, petty cash box and running the A/P checks.

 

The incumbent’s contacts outside the ASTM Staff include:  Bankers, Morgan and Stanley, Auditors and Insurance Brokers.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required.

2-5 years experience
