GAP (General Assistance Program) Coordinator

Job Summary: The GAP Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the after-school program.  This consists of preparing for the day, maintaining student files, assisting and facilitating the homework and tutoring time, organizing and facilitating outside activities, organizing and monitoring free time.

 Important Relationships:  The GAP Coordinator works to establish and maintain positive, productive relationships with the following in order to successfully carry out job responsibilities:

 

Internal:

 

Program Director:  Works extensively with and informs the Program Director on all aspects of the after-school program.

 

Assistants:  Responsible to provide leadership by organizing and administering the work of the assistants and volunteers.

 External:

 

Residents and Families: Develops relationships with kids and their families that attend the center.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

 Maintain a professional image and positive attitude.

 Uphold the Steadfast Mission Statement and Core Values

 Maintain student registration files.

 Conduct the following programs Monday through Thursday:

 Homework AssistanceEducational ActivityOutside Activity/GameOrganized Free TimeCommunicate needs to the Program Director.

 Maintain supplies and equipment while informing Program Director of needed supplies.Attend monthly meetings with the Program Director.Submit monthly report by the first Monday of each month.Maintain the overall appearance of the center.

 Clean daily.  This includes sweeping, vacuuming, cleaning windows, bathrooms, and computers.Update boards monthly by changing wording, postings, or borders.Ensure that there are no loose borders or papers on wallboards.Ensure that all furniture and games are properly stored or setup before leaving each day.Maintain furniture, supplies, and equipment in good working order. Position Requirements:

 

 

Skills:  Consistently demonstrates excellence in the following skills:

 

·  Ability to work with children in an after-school setting with confidence.

·  Demonstrated ability for multi-tasking.Exceptional organizational skills.Computer literate, specifically MS Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook for Windows.Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills through writing and speaking.Qualities: Consistently demonstrates the following qualities in carrying out duties and in interacting with others:

 Team player with strong work ethic able to work with a variety of personality types.Demonstrates leadership abilities, exhibiting confidence, professionalism and maturity.Motivated by high level of accountability; results oriented.Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.

 

 

Experience:  The following level of experience is required:

 At least one year of college education.Previous work with multiple children in group setting.Spanish Speaking a plus, but not requiredPrevious supervisor experience preferred.

 

Physical & Mental Demands:  Employee must be physically and mentally able to perform the duties listed under Key Duties and Responsibilities above, all of which are deemed "essential functions of the job."  Employer will make reasonable accommodations in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.  Job requires:

 Ability to lift approximately 15-20 lbs.Ability to participate and provide physical activity for youth of all ages.
