Grants and Contracts Specialist

Reporting to the director of development, the Grants and Contracts Specialist is responsible for researching and identifying viable grant opportunities for the organization as well as preparing and submitting grant applications, letters of inquiry, and formal proposals according to grant guidelines.  The Grants and Contracts Specialist participates in strategic planning and developing new programs that advance the organizations goals and objectives.  This is a great opportunity for someone with strong research and writing skills interested in working at a leading nonprofit agency with an outstanding record of helping individuals in need.Position GoalsØ  Generate funding for general and specific operating needs of the organization.Ø  Upgrade and expand the organization’s grant management plan with deadlines and grant specific funding at the local, state, regional, and national levels.Ø  Cultivate a network of foundations, organizations, and corporate partners dedicated to ending hunger and food insecurity.Ø  Work with organization staff to ensure attention to and compliance with all policies and procedures. DutiesØ  Coordinate funding requests including but not limited to Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), Food Stamp Nutrition Education Program (FSNEP), and other public and private sector support.Ø  Provide grant writing training and technical assistance to partner agencies.Ø  Research and write funding requests to decrease hunger in underserved communities.Ø  Complete required reporting documents for grant funding. QualificationsØ  Professional writing experience and proven funding success in grant writing. Ø  Bachelor’s degree required.
