JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Group Supervisor
Department: Kensington Programs – Stetson Beacon
Status: Temporary Part-Time Non-exempt
Primary Function: Develop and implement program activities, monitor and manage children’s behavior and communication, ensure children’s safety. Provides leadership to Assistant Group Supervisors and Aides.
Immediate supervisor: Administrator of Beacon Programs
Qualifications: Must demonstrate strong verbal/written communication and listening skills with children, their families and co-workers. Must demonstrate ability to guide group activities with appropriate and nurturing concern for fairness and safety. Must demonstrate a desire to make activities to children, interesting, educational and fun. Must be flexible to change and have the energy to participate.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, psychology or other human service field, or Bachelor’s degree in any field with 30 credits in education with one year of documented experience working with children, or an Associates degree in childhood education with 2 years documented experience working with children.
Experience: Minimum of two years of direct-care work in a human service occupation, preferably working with families or community-based programs. Must have demonstrated a strong degree of integrity, maturity and discretion, which is needed in handling confidential matters. Must have demonstrated ability to take initiative and have the ability to adapt to changing situations.

Responsibilities / Tasks:
1. Develops and implements developmentally appropriate, stimulating after school activities for elementary or middle school children. Provides daily lesson plans for activities based on monthly thematic units to designated supervisor. Utilizes lesson plan feedback to ensure quality program activities.
2. Maintains a positive, nurturing relationship, sets limits and provides appropriate supportive guidance and behavior management to children and youth during the after school activities.
3. Maintains daily and weekly attendance and snack roster. Ensures the delivery of the attendance roster to the Kensington office on Friday evenings.
4. Conducts the timely execution of the CIS After School registration packet. Ensures the collection of all pertinent data and signature from children and parents within 20 days of the first day of attendance. If necessary, conducts follow-up phone calls, home visits for the timely completion of registration evaluation data, and parent meetings.
5. Supports the collection of relevant data for evaluation of student performance and program impact.
6. Conducts phone calls, parent meetings, and home visits for the explicit purpose of providing feedback, completing registration packets, and gathering program evaluation data.
7. Identifies the need for program supplies and makes requests as appropriate.
8. Communicate daily with parents to update as to child’s progress or answer questions about child’s activities.
9. Immediately respond to all incidents of safety, injury or illness. Involves the Program Administrator as soon as possible in all incidents and submits a written report within 24 hours.
10. Attend all assigned staff meetings and professional development trainings.
11. Assumes responsibility for professional growth and conduct.
12. Upholds and abides by MSCF’s mission, policies and procedures.
13. Assumes other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, stoop, kneel, sit on the floor, stand and walk; reach with hands and arms and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to crouch, crawl or run.
The employee must sometimes lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.
Employee is regularly required to participate in recreational activities such as sports, running and jumping. Employee is also required to attend and participate in field trips such as amusement parks, bowling, skating and other recreational events.
Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions, including the supervision of outside play activities. Primary functions are contained within an indoor setting outdoor activities and field trips.
Hazards: Employees occasionally may use hazardous substances for cleaning purposes and may come in contact with fumes, airborne particles and body fluids. The employee may be subject to loud noise as normally produced by groups of children. This employee may occasionally be exposed to clients, both adult and child, who are angry or upset. Appropriate measures should be taken to avoid confrontation. They will need to take proper precautions when traveling through city neighborhoods, or encountering client’s family members who may have mental health issues.
