The Home Life Coordinator is a leadership role, but not a supervisory, full time position responsible for the daily support of adults with mental retardation and the day to day efficient operation of one of SPIN, Inc.’s homes. The Coordinator will be responsible to assess, develop, implement, train and document each person’s Individual Support Plan. The schedule may consist of a combination of shifts. All Home Life Coordinators will be expected to work at least one day of the weekend.
Additional responsibilities include:
· Leading by example in providing daily quality supports to the individuals by encouraging growth toward independence in self-care, daily living, social and recreational skills.
· Provides direct care and support to all individuals to assure that their safety and basic living needs are met.
· Develops and maintains individual’s safety and life skills to increase their independence.Assists with programmatic intervention, personal hygiene skills, cooking, cleaning, bathing, recreational activities, social events, etc. Training all Direct Support Professionals in the Individual Support Plan for each individual and the documentation procedures of the ISP.Writing monthly and quarterly reports and assuring other staff complete well written monthly reports within specific timelines.Mentoring and training the Direct Support Professionals to provide the highest quality, person-centered support to individuals.Assume primary responsibility for proper and safe maintenance of the home by performing routine minor maintenance tasks, site reviews and reporting all maintenance issues to the Assisting Director.Assuring all food, supplies, clothing and household necessities are in ample supply.Interfacing with Community Life Peers, Direct Support Professionals, Therapist, family and community members in the best interest of each individual.
Requirements include:
High School Diploma and minimum of 60 college credits with active enrollment in a four-year degree program in Special Education, Psychology or related field. Associates or Bachelor degree in Special Education, Psychology or related field preferred.Experience working directly with adults with mental retardation/mental health. HS Diploma & 60 credits/Associates Degree requires 4 years experience. BA Degree requires 2 years experience.At least 18 years of age, driver’s license, own vehicle and insurance.Excellent oral & written communication skills.Patience and flexibility is a must.Ability to work with a variety of people in various settings.
