Housekeeping Supervisor 

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the facility. He or she will work with the Shelter and Day Program men to make sure that daily cleaning chores are completed. The life experiences of the homeless men vary widely and mandate that staff be able to respect and value individuals normally viewed as being on the fringes of society.

 

Reports to:  Site Administrator

 

 General Responsibilities  The Housekeeping Supervisor will:

 

Ø  Supervise the cleaning of the entire facility

Ø  Establish schedule and plan daily work assignments

Ø  Maintain a list of needed supplies

Ø  Report equipment malfunctions to the Site Administrator and/or Operations Manager

Ø  Make sure that closets and storage areas are organized and clean

Ø  Supervise shelter residents who are assigned cleaning chores

Ø  Inspect and approve work performed

Ø  Record all noteworthy incidents and observations

Ø  Inform incoming staff members of any situations they may prove to be challenging

Ø  Contribute as a staff team member to the spirit of harmony in the facility.

Skill/Educational Requirements

 

· Knowledge of cleaning procedures

· Experience in janitorial services preferred

· Strong interpersonal and organizational communication skills

· Team-oriented disposition

· Strong written and oral communication skills

· Leadership skills

· Proven ability to delegate responsibilities

 

 

Physical Requirements

 Lift at least 50 lbs.Maneuver easily up and down stairs and in small places.
