Independent Living Specialist

An Independent Living Specialist is an Advocate for consumers and represent consumers, who request support and for those who are unableto or are too incapacitated to advocate for themselves. They provide general consumer intake, information, and referral services. An Independent Living Specialist also participates in activities advocating system changes and promoting and providing community education. 

 

 



Qualifications:

Minimum of an Associate Degree obtained in a human services field from an accredited educational facility and two years of directly related work experience with people who have disabilities.  Additional relevant work experience and/or personal experience accessing services may substitute for educational experience on a one-to-one year basis. Excellent communication skills (written and oral).  Strong organizational skills.  Computer literacy is a must.
