Major Gifts Officer, President's Circle

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is the premier encyclopedic museum of visual arts in the western United States.  Established in 1965 as an independent institution, the museum has assembled a collection of approximately 100,000 works from around the world, spanning the history of art from ancient times to the present.  Through its far-reaching collections and extensive public programming, the museum is both a resource to and a reflection of the many cultural communities and heritages in Southern California.  The museum draws hundreds of thousands of visitors annually and has 85,000 adult members and 60,000 child members.  It is accredited through the American Association of Museums.

 

Reporting to the Director of Major Gifts, the Major Gifts Officer will create and manage a $2.5 million-plus annual campaign for LACMA’s President’s Circle and work with the Development staff to identify, cultivate, and solicit major gifts for Transformation: The LACMA Campaign.

 

Duties include correspondence with major donors, solicitation of gift donations, the design and production of events for the President’s Circle, supervision of President’s Circle sub-committee made up of Trustees and community leaders, and the management and cultivation of prospective donor relationships.

 

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and three to five years of experience in working with donors, creating direct mail solicitations, catering to high level member needs, and budget creation and management.  A combination of related education, training, and experience will be accepted.

 

Additional requirements are as follows: demonstrated strength in organizing, prioritizing and handling multiple tasks to meet established deadlines in spite of frequent interruptions; respond quickly and accurately to changing tasks and priorities; analytical, detail-oriented, flexible and efficient; exercise sound judgment and decision making and handle confidential and sensitive information effectively; exercise appropriate initiative and follow-through on a daily basis; solid working knowledge of computers and word-processing, spreadsheet, database and/or other software applications currently used by the department; strong service orientation; ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
