Product Specialist, Sports Medicine (Eastern Division)
Position: Product Specialist, Sports Medicine
Department: Sales – Sports Medicine Division
Manager’s Title: Area Sales Manager
Location: Eastern US
Summarize the primary function of the position:
Person shall be responsible for working directly with and supporting both direct and independent sales representatives within the Sports Medicine sales channel. The person will educate, train, consult and assist the sales representatives and end users on the O.R. use of tissue forms and products in order to drive sales.
Describe the major elements of the position in order of importance:
1. Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
2. Possess effective skills in training, information dissemination and sales to Surgical Consultants/Agency Representatives and end users on all features and benefits of products and tissue forms to elicit trial use of product(s) and continuous use/reorder.
3. Work with the MTF Product Management, Area Managers and independent agencies to alter, recreate or develop new training materials that adequately convey the features, benefits and attributes of all sports tissue forms and products.
4. Travel, sometimes extensively on short notice, as needed and assigned by the Area Manager in order to support the sales effort
5. Ability to quickly forge relations with clientele (sales representatives, nurses and surgeons)
6. Must track all sales calls and submit reports on a timely basis to the Area Manager in order to manage expectations against sales.
7. Develop and conduct training presentations and in-services for sales representatives and end-users.
8. Assist with in-field training of new Surgical Consultants and Agency Representatives.
Job Qualifications (education, certification, experience, knowledge, skills, physical requirements)
1. Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Marketing or Business Management
2. 3-5 years’ experience in creating, conducting and disseminating various forms of education or training.
3. Knowledge of sports medicine procedures or physical anatomy preferred.
4. Ability to travel extensively via plane, train or automobile up to 50-60% of the time.
5. Ability to perform basic computer tasks and run WORD, Excel and Power Point software.
6. Must be enthusiastic and extremely energetic, self directed, service-oriented, highly motivated individual who is goal oriented with a demonstrated ability to plan, budget and manage a fast paced work load
7. Fast learner who exhibits a strong work ethic and dynamic team environment interaction skills are required. Comfortable communicating in new and unfamiliar environments. Capable of maintaining open and positive communications with colleagues, peers and staff.
