Publicist
SUMMARY
The publicist is responsible for driving sales through the planning and implementing of successful publicity campaigns, book signings, and events through print, radio, television, and online media outlets. Creates and executes campaigns for key titles by developing press releases, pitch letters, press kit materials and arranging special events, interviews, reviews and other publicity strategies. Strengthens and develops media and bookstore contacts and maintains positive relationships with authors, key accounts and PR staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
· BABS required, preferably with a background in marketing, public relations and/or communications
· Minimum 5 years book publicity experience, or experience in press relations and writing press and other informational materials, preferably for a religious publishing company or public relations agency.
· Established relationships with publishing media contacts required. Direct experience within the religion category, preferred
· Successful track record at securing visibility, interviews and media coverage for authors and books
· Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with members of the media
· Knowledge of media and press procedures
· Superior writing and communication skills and faultless use of the English language
· Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office, database skills)
· Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
· Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
· Ability to meet deadlines and sustain productivity under pressure.
· Ability to travel occasionally as needed.
