Research Coordinator

The Monell Chemical Senses Center was founded in 1968 as the world’s first nonprofit scientific institute devoted exclusively to basic research on the chemical senses: taste, smell, and chemosensory irritation.  Research at Monell contributes to a wide range of scientific and practical knowledge.  With more than fifty Ph.D.-level scientists, the Center is making major progress toward understanding how the chemical senses function and their importance in everyday life.  Ongoing chemosensory studies extend from investigating receptor mechanisms to evaluating the role of the chemical senses in human health and disease.  The Center is located in the University City area of Philadelphia and maintains a clinical research facility at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Center City Philadelphia.  For more information on Monell please visit our website at www.monell.org

 

We are currently seeking a Research Coordinator to be responsible for subject recruiting and retention efforts for a large scale taste genetics study.  Individual will assist with designing and implementing recruitment and subject follow-up procedures and be the main point of contact for scheduling and registration of research subjects.  The individual will also be responsible for all related scheduling, registration, and payment processing for study participants.  

 

General responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 Identifying and tracking eligible study subjectsConducting screening interviews over the phone and in personAssisting with the preparation of study logisticsProcessing subject payment requestsMaintaining regular contact with participants to help ensure their continued participation

 Requirements Include:

 BA/BS Psychology, Management or Marketing requiredTwo to three years research experience preferred  Effective problem solving abilities and ability to multi-task Outstanding communication and customer service skills  Knowledge of IRB and human research protection regulations Ability to function efficiently and professionally with minimal supervisionRequires a high degree of flexibility of skills and hours.Knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel, MS Access required, and SPSS a plus
