This position is responsible for collection of design requirements, design evaluation, and the implementation of Microsoft SQLServer databases utilizing modeling and normalization techniques. The DBA should also possess the skills to evaluate existing databases and recommend architectural changes, tuning improvements and where appropriate, database consolidation. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:General Responsibilities- Work as an integral member of the information technology group.- Achieve and maintain excellent interpersonal relations with all constituencies.- Practice and promote open communications with all constituencies.- Provide other necessary reporting to ASHP management as required.Specific Responsibilities- Work with relational SQLServer databases in a client/server environment.- Based on experience, education and documented requirements, design optimal relational SQLServer databases utilizing data modeling and normalization.- Create, maintain and support SQLServer databases.- Serve as Great Plains administrator and application support.- Develop SQL queries. - Comprehend various system configurations, directory structures and database options. Prepare implementation recommendations based on this knowledge. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (CONTINUED):- Maintain database security and control access as directed by the Chief Information Officer.- Implement backup and restore procedures for SQLServer databases.- Support and maintain SQLServer clusters and mirrors. - Participate in technology architecture planning meetings. Provide input on database aspects including day to day operations and optimal designs for remote database access/disaster recovery. Recommendations should be based on both education and experience with consideration to key aspects such as latency, overhead and timing as it relates to database structure, input/output and other overhead factors.- Documentation of all work and maintenance of that documentation so that the related information is always current. - Develop a personal education plan to address the on-going skills needed for this assignment.- Participate in staff training as required.- Support on-call responsibilities as required by the department.- Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:- A four year degree in Information Systems, Business or software related field. This requirement can be satisfied via job experience. - A minimum of five years experience in a DBA role for SQLServer. Experience with SQLServer mirroring and clustering as well as Disaster Recovery (DR) is desired.- Experience with Association Management Software and Great Plains software desired.- Proficient in the understanding and generation of SQL queries is required.- Experience in report writing, Crystal Reports preferred.
