We are currently seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator for our Management Information Systems department. The Database Administrator is responsible for the installation, maintenance, tuning, back up, and security of our core health claims business application. This is not strictly a “back office” role. There will be significant interaction with end-users, responsibility for reporting, development of EDI imports and exports, data mapping and conversion of flat-file data from multiple legacy systems and integration of other software products. Candidates will be expected to master the schema of several complex enterprise information systems as well the organization’s business requirements. Responsibilities Lead SQL Server 2005 software installation, maintenance and conversions Maintain multiple databases in development and production environments Work with development teams on all aspects of database design Test, monitor and suggest ways to tune performance on SQL Server 2005 databases Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies Develop SQL processes for data loading, migration and application interfaces Develop and enforce organizational SQL standards and best practices Manage SQL Server 2005 clusters Design, implement and maintain business continuity strategies Develop T-SQL stored procedures Develop exports from transaction system to OLAP system Master complex database schema and provide support to team of report writers Other duties and projects as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred Minimum of five (5) years experience as a Database Administrator to include at least three (3) years of experience in a production environment Excellent knowledge of SQL Server 2005 a must; SQL 2005 production experience with at least one year working with databases larger than 100GB required Experience with Windows Clustering Services/SQL Server Clusters Excellent knowledge of SQL Server backup and restore strategies, including experience with SQL Server Log Shipping Manager Strong Transact-SQL coding skills Significant ETL experience; strong SSIS skills Experience with Microsoft BI Stack (Reporting Services, Analysis Services) Strong background in health insurance, experience working with complex health care claims processing systems, and knowledge of the X12 transaction sets mandated by HIPAA preferred Knowledge of BizTalk Server 2006 or experience with EDI in an enterprise environment very helpful Strong business analysis/needs assessment skills; must be able to meet directly with end users and translate their requirements into SQL code Ability to manage priorities and handle simultaneous demands; willingness to work in a fast paced and demanding environment Strong analytical abilities and communications skills; interest in the interaction of IT with the larger organization We offer a competitive salary, an excellent fully employer-paid comprehensive benefits package and talented professional colleagues.
