Now serving New York City for 25 years, City Harvest is the world’s first and New York’s only food rescue organization, dedicated to feeding the city’s hungry men, women, and children. Using a fleet of 16 trucks and volunteers on foot, City Harvest collects excess food from all segments of the food industry and delivers it free of charge to community programs in all five boroughs. At the same time, City Harvest is working to increase the access that low-income New Yorkers have to nutritious food by partnering with other non-profits, businesses, farmers, and target communities to establish improvements to local food systems that will benefit residents long into the future. City Harvest’s programs provide individuals and families with nutrition information that they can use and supports community programs so that they can do their vital work serving meals to people in need. City Harvest’s programs currently help feed an estimated 260,000 New Yorkers each week.

Senior Accounting Manager
We are seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to perform advanced finance activities, subject to and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, in a manner reflective of the position’s fiduciary responsibility to
City Harvest.

 Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the general ledger function to ensure prompt monthly closing and to facilitate the preparation of required financial reports.

• Reconcile accounts (including bank, investment, pledges, inventory, etc.) on a monthly basis or as required to ensure that account subsidiary ledgers balance to general ledger accounts.

• Produce scheduled financial reports, including preliminary report analysis.

• Review payroll and accounts payable activities and ensure that they are promptly and accurately performed.

• Ensure compliance with all payroll tax requirements.

• Liaise with Human Resources Department to address and resolve salary administration issues.

• Monitor monthly grants receivables and ensure timely collection.

• Facilitate the performance of all regularly scheduled and special audits

• Ensure that all required records are prepared and maintained.

• Perform grants management and donor analysis and complete special projects in budgeting.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent; CPA preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years experience as an accountant (preferably with a non-profit organization)

• Grant Management/Grant Accounting in government and/or restricted giving

•  Hands-on accounting experience working with Micosoft Dynamics financial application.
