Sr.Consultant, CompensationPosition SummaryThe American Red Cross is seeking candidates for a Compensation Consultant to support chapter compensation activities and program development. This is an opportunity to design and implement compensation systems from the ground up and create innovative solutions to achieve the mission and business objectives of a humanitarian, not-for-profit organization that operates in labor markets throughout the U.S. The consultant provides compensation expertise to business leaders and HR colleagues to develop strategic compensation programs that support equitable compensation rates within the Chapter Operations network as compared with industry rates. Consults with clients in the area of broad-based compensation (base pay, recognition awards, variable pay, total rewards) and is the main point of contact on compensation issues for chapters. RESPONSIBILITIES• Builds training, communication and other tools to educate employees and managers about compensation and total rewards. • Identifies issues that require a compensation solution and recommends appropriate alternatives to management. • Develop job standardization and salary structure system(s) including job classification, documentation, analysis, evaluation and market pricing. • Applies job evaluation practices and conducts dynamic analysis to determine, develop and implement appropriate, flexible compensation solutions. • Studies labor markets to determine compensation trends and analyze applicability to chapters. • Develops and/or collaborates in the development of management reports and presentations. • Conducts ad hoc compensation analysis as needed. • Partners with HR colleagues in support of executive compensation.• Routinely advise management regarding compensation for professionals, technical and administrative employeeQUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in human resources management, business management, statistics/mathematics or related field. A minimum of 7 years’ compensation/total rewards, or similar equivalent experience. CCP preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills, and exceptional analytical and negotiation skills. Prefer experience in a wide variety of compensation areas including knowledge of Intermediate Sanctions regulations, variable pay plan development, interpretation and application of regulations affecting pay. Familiarity with a variety of job evaluation methods a plus. Experience in non-profit and commercial industries preferred. Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and database skills including the development of complex spreadsheets and presentations, and experience preparing, documenting and presenting narrative reports and statistical analyses. Ability to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple competing priorities and ability to tolerate ambiguity.
