Strategic Planning Manager

Green Dot Public Schools ( http://www.greendot.org/), the leading public schools operator in Los Angeles and an important catalyst for education reform in the State of California, is looking for a Strategic Planning Manager to help develop strategic plans for transforming public schools throughout the City of Los Angeles. 

 

Green Dot’s mission is to transform public education in LA so that all young adults receive the education they deserve to be prepared for college, leadership and life.  The non-profit organization’s work is directly focused on influencing the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to transform its failing high schools into clusters of small successful schools and helping the district reinvent itself as one of the best school districts in the country. Green Dot has already opened twelve successful charter high schools in some of the highest-need areas of Los Angeles (with more planned for Fall 2008), and in doing so has demonstrated that public schools can do a far better job of educating students if they are operated more effectively

 

The Strategic Planning Manager will be responsible for developing strategic plans for all of Green Dot’s growth initiatives as well as working on the analysis, evaluation and recommendation of select initiatives and projects.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

 

Strategic Planning: Prepare long-term strategic plans and business plans for key initiatives. Evaluate various development and growth alternatives including execution of mergers and acquisitions. Retrieve, manage, manipulate, analyze and present data from various information systems. Assist with long-term financial modeling, planning and forecasting. Complete ad hoc research assignments for executive management.  Monitor and gather peer and industry intelligence. 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

· Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, accounting, planning, statistics, engineering or a related field. MBA a plus. 

·  2-3 years of post-undergraduate experience in strategy or management consulting preferred. Investment management, investment banking, or corporate finance experience also desirable.

· Understanding of fundamental business valuation methodologies and financial modeling.

· Experience in handling and analyzing large and complex datasets.

· Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills.

· Experience in using MS Excel and PowerPoint. MS Access experience a plus.

· Strong interpersonal skills.

· Proven history of excellent performance and project management.

· Above all, hard working

· Strong sense of integrity, ethics and drive to achieve
