THERAPEUTIC RECREATION COORDINATOR #12461

RESPONSIBILITIES:         

 ·        Ensure safe/secure environment.  Act immediately to remove all dangers or threats to the welfare of kids. Possess knowledge and ability to carry out all emergency procedures, i.e.: fire, CPR, poison control, and to provide minor First Aid treatment to children.  Insure all recreation equipment is in safe order.

 

·        Supervise children.  Oversee recreational activities; know the whereabouts of all the children in your care.  Ensure the performance of daily self care tasks and assist children as needed.  Provide minor first aid treatment as necessary.

 

·        Provide individual counseling as well as facilitate therapeutic groups.

 

·        Crisis Intervention. Fully perform restraints as necessary when ordered by a licensed professional using the current approved KidsPeace restraint methodology on youth who may weigh in excess of 250 pounds and who are verbally or physically threatening or otherwise presenting a threat to themselves or others.  Support the residential houses in time of need and perform crisis intervention duties including the use of passive restraint techniques as needed in the direct management of the population.

 

·        Provides and oversees Recreation Assessments; Participate in the planning and implementation of individualized treatment plans as well as daily treatment schedules in accordance with House/Module programming.

 

·        Communicate all relevant client information obtained by daily supervision to appropriate treatment team members on a timely basis; Communicate information as required by policy and protocols; complete all required documentation.
