Description of Duties:
Thresholds and the UIC College of Nursing seek two part-time nurses to work on a study of Integrated Illness Management and Recovery in older adults with Severe Mental Illness.  This is a one year study (with the possibility to extend) and the positions are 25% time for each nurse.  The goal of the project is to improve client’s awareness and understanding of medical conditions and medications and their interaction with mental health issues.  The nurse’s role is to facilitate improved awareness,  to reduce barriers to self-management, and to monitor signs and symptoms related to medical diagnoses.  The nurse will work closely with a Thresholds’ community support specialist who will be providing a curriculum-based mental health intervention in parallel with the nurse.  Some local travel is involved.  Training and supervision from experts at Dartmouth Center on Aging will be provided.

Qualifications:
1) RN or more advanced nursing degree
2) Strong team-work skills and interest
3) Interest in working with older adults with severe mental illness in a  community-based program
4) Experience with psychiatric nursing preferred
5) Owning a car is strongly recommended
6) Driver's license required

Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's degree in nursing or more advanced nursing degree.
