VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR FOR SAY SAN DIEGO, INC.
This is a full time position working as part of the Development Unit reporting directly to the Associate Executive Director. The primary responsibilities of the position are to develop and manage volunteer services (including mentors, tutors and special events) for various SAY programs. The position requires a person who has strong written and verbal communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify agency volunteer needs and potential sources of volunteers Maintain volunteer records Provide support as needed for programs requiring volunteers Recruit, train, screen, placement and follow-up for volunteers Attend outreach activities to recruit volunteers Communicate with agency managers about volunteer needs Communicate with volunteers sources Orientation and coordination of agency volunteers Planning and implementation of volunteer recognition events Create and maintain volunteer support material Attend Network meetings as needed Maintain positive and supportive relationships with co-workers Maintain accurate knowledge about the agency, its programs and services Accurately represent the agency to and maintain positive working relationships with the general public, clients, funding sources, government bodies, etc. Communicate positive and negative feedback from the community through your supervisor to management Utilize appropriate opportunities to pursue positive public relations for the agency Some weekends and evenings may be required. Other tasks as assigned by Associate Executive Director
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 2 years experience working for not-for-profit Experience working as a volunteer Ability to work independently Effective oral and written communication skills Computer skills, (MS Office, Excel)
