Vice President - Corporate Development

The National Urban League seeks a Vice President, Corporate Development in the Development department.  The successful candidate will be reporting to the Senior Vice President, Development. The Vice President is responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive program to generate and build financial support from corporations.  Maintains close contact with decision makers and other key individuals at all major corporations, both donors and prospects.  Provides support to the President and Trustees in their fund-raising and cultivation contacts with corporations.  VP maintains a current awareness of the direction of the League’s programs and services at the national and affiliate levels.  As requested by the Senior Vice President, provides support to the Development Committee of the Board. 

 

Essential Functions:

· Develops a recommended case for giving for the annual corporate appeals, and recommends the annual agency goal for corporate contributions. Develops annual plans and budgets for achieving these goals.

· Responsible for establishing fund raising goals, strategies, and plans for prospect development and relationship building.

· Plans and conducts cultivation activities and events for corporations.

· Prepares monthly and quarterly reports on projected and actual corporation income, and on progress toward meeting assigned revenue goals.

· Supports the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees and the President in his/her fund-raising and cultivation activities as it relates to corporations. 

· Responsible for monitoring and managing the departments operating expenses for the corporate budget.

·Managing corporate account managers and providing strategic direction to help them attain annual goals.

Skills & Knowledge:



 

Strong inter-personal skills.

Ability to communicate easily with a wide range of persons. 



Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and coordinate fund raising campaigns.
Must have demonstrated skill in strategic planning, oral and written communications, and program implementation and goal achievement

 Strong strategic thinking skills required
Must be good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Ability to travel 35% required
