The Office of Communications at Coriell Institute located in the Medical/University Complex, seeks a talented and versatile Web professional to edit, create, organize and update content for the Institute's core Web site. The Web Editor/Designer will focus on written content, primarily from a journalistic perspective, but also will possess skills and interests in Web technology, design, visuals and other content. The individual must be an organized communicator who can set priorities, multitask, problem solve, project track, meet deadlines and contribute to overall team objectives. He or she will report to and work closely and collaboratively with the Director of Communications.

The Web Editor/Designer will edit, organize, create and add content to Web pages, including text, photos and graphic design -- primarily using the Institute's Joomla content management system (CMS). As such, the Web Editor/Designer must be highly familiar with Web communications, including CMS, and must be able to convey intended messages accurately and succinctly both through editorial and visual mechanisms.


The Web Editor/Designer must exhibit a strong desire to serve the specific needs of a fast-paced communications office within a non-profit setting. He or she will have experience understanding the needs of and working comfortably with communications experts. He or she also must have experience working comfortably with technology experts in the Information Technology department.  

 



Qualifications

Minimum of 1 years experience in a professional Web and/or Communications environment in a capacity that assists and supports senior team members. Experience in editing and writing, preferably in a professional capacity, and photography, graphic design or other visual content experience.


Familiarity with Web technology, preferrably Joomla CMS.
Demonstrated ability to work well, both independently and on teams. Excellent organizational skills, must be able to multitask, must be able to work with creative teams and must be able to work well with diverse audiences.

Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent professional experience.
Candidates also should be able to exhibit understanding of how Web strategy can improve communications efforts; Good trouble-shooting capability; Good organization skills, including the ability to prioritize and set standards; and proficiency in the implementation of basic and advanced Web sites and applications built within environments such as HTML and CSS.
