Web Managing Director

The Foundation currently seeks a Web Managing Director to join our web team in running the RWJF public Web site. The managing director has day-to-day responsibility over the infrastructure & information architecture of the RWJF public Web site, including navigation, organization & usability. The managing director also plays a role on the content side of the site. Specific responsibilities include helping develop Web site strategy; managing overall information architecture; overseeing search, taxonomy & presentation of related content; managing navigation, structure & strategy for key areas of the site; managing user testing & related usability work; and serving as content liaison to some of our program teams. Will need strong communications background; in-depth understanding of the Web, Web content & Web usability; and expertise in information architecture, project management, user experience, usability assessments, and the development of project strategies & plans.
Essential Job Responsibilities: Collaborates on the development of strategies to achieve Foundation-wide communications objectives through the Web site. Leads cross-functional teams of RWJF staff, external consultants & vendors working on projects related to the usability & information architecture of RWJF.org. Manages relationships with external vendors & consultants. Manages the organization & presentation of information pertaining to the program areas in which RWJF presently works. Serves as content liaison with 2 or 3 specific program areas. Manages the organization & presentation of RWJF's research, program evaluations, policy-related information and other learning products in the Publications & Research area. Develops & manages the presentation of a user-focused vocabulary to categorize RWJF's activities in user-focused terms and to draw relationships between related content. Manages search & other technologies that make learning materials as easy to find as possible on RWJF.org and, where possible, draws relationships between related materials. Participates in other projects as needed.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a field related to communications, health or health care, policy or user experience. Five or more years experience in Web development & communications projects. Expertise in Web content development, information architecture, project management, usability assessments, user experience and the development of project strategies & plans. Knowledge of and experience with social media such as blogs, wikis, user generated content, etc. is a big plus. Interest in and familiarity with health, health care & health policy. Personally motivated to support the Foundation's mission & goals; creative, flexible; able to work both independently & in teams to think imaginatively about opportunities; to respond to novel & innovative approaches to addressing an issue; to inspire others to work towards achieving team goals. Excellent interpersonal skills; collegial, energetic, able to develop productive relationships with colleagues & consultants. Strong written & verbal communication skills are essential to success in this position. Experience handling multiple priorities effectively; must be adept at organizing time efficiently; high tolerance for ambiguity; ability to understand & work effectively in the Foundation's organizational structure. Demonstrated maturity & seasoned judgment. Ability to make decisions, justify recommendations, and be responsive & clear.
