API Reference documentation

Job Description:Description In this position, you will write API reference documentation, developer guides, and XML reference documentation. This position involves writing new documentation based on information gathered from specifications, from developers, and by writing and running small sample applications. You will work closely with developers and other writers. Essential Functions: Participate in the full lifecycle for documentation development, including:Design the developer documentation: API reference, developer's guides, example code sections, and XML reference. Write and revise the documentation by gathering information from specifications, from attendance at SCRUM meetings, and by interviewing developers. Review documentation prepared by other writers. Deliver the documentation: Work with developers and configuration management staff to include the generation of the API documentation in builds, to generate HTML and/or PDF documents, to ensure that the installer picks up the correct files, etc. Write sample applications to illustrate how to get started and how to do basic use cases. Requirements: 5+ years experience writing technical documentation. 2+ years experience writing API documentation and developer guides. Excellent writing skills, including the ability to organize and present complex technical information concisely and clearly. Ability to work effectively with developers, QA staff members, and other technical writers. Ability to work quickly and accurately. Ability to read and write samples in one or more of the following languages: C#, Visual Basic .NET, and Java. Experience using one or more of the following tools: FrameMaker, Sandcastle (or other API documentation generator), and WebWorks ePublisher. Ability to read and analyze complex source code is a plus.
