Account Manager - Northeast

For more information about PolyOne visit www.polyone.com GENERAL SUMMARY:This position will take the lead role in developing and maintaining transactional business for PolyOne Engineered Materials (EM) products within the New England area in order to drive demand for PolyOne products and deliver profitable growth for the business. This includes identifying, screening and qualifying new business opportunities with targeted Molders and Extruders of EM compounds, maximizing the value proposition and coordinating the follow-through needed to close new business.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:•Identify opportunities and develop account relationships to secure new business for PolyOne’s EM products at strategic processors within assigned territory.•Coordinate with the EM Market Development & Technical teams as well as regional POD sales reps as necessary to accelerate & drive profitable growth through sales to targeted processor accounts in order to achieve the desired EM sales goals.•Identify key processors of Specialty EM products and work towards building a linkage between the customer’s business strategy and PolyOne’s capabilities.•Network with key personnel at targeted processor accounts to promote & sell the value of PolyOne EM capabilities high,wide & deep throughout the customer’s organization. •Work closely with EM Product and Market Managers to implement PolyOne’s product, pricing and market strategies as well as adherence to standard business policies and practices.•Coordinate customer sampling, trials and support services with EM Technical Service representatives.•Identify linkage between processors and their key OEM accounts. Coordinate OEM support needs with the EM Market Development team including global support needs with PolyOne-International as appropriate.•Develop,execute & manage sales plans and budgets.Manage expenses & report in a timely fashion.•Monitor competitive environment within the region to identify issues and threats as well as developing plans to eliminate barriers.•Develop written Account Plans for top five strategic accounts including metrics to define annualized sales potential at each account.•Establish individual performance standards,goals and objectives-measure and provide feedback.•Ensure smooth transitions to regional sales, customer service,global partners & manufacturing.•Adhere to PolyOne safety,travel,ethics & Human Resource policies.Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:•Bachelors degree in a technical discipline or related degree•Broad knowledge of Engineered Compounds including filled and reinforced products, specialty ETPs and thermoplastic elastomers. •Strong inner drive, self-motivation and goal-orientation.•Proven track record of generating & qualifying new sales leads & closing new business opportunities.•Strong commercial sales, price negotiation & presentation skills.•Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.Experience with SAP environment a plus.Required Length & Type of Experience:•Minimum 5-10 years of plastics industry sales experience, preferably within the compounded products sector or with a major resin manufacturer.•Experience with key account management and strategic planning tools.
